Frequently Asked Questions

Who are Penny Licks?

We are a small, family-run company with a big passion for hand-making delicious and unusual ice creams. Our inspiration is the traditional British seaside. We use Kentish milk, fresh fruit and other seasonal delights that we can forage locally. We started planning the business in 2020 and started scooping in July 2021.

Why the name?

Before cones were invented, 19th Century street vendors would scoop their ice cream into little glass cups called a 'penny lick', as they cost a penny. It inspired our name. And we like that it sounds a bit naughty, too. You can find out more about penny licks glasses here

Where are you based?

By the sea. We proudly make all our ice creams and sorbets ourselves, by hand and with love, in Deal, Kent. We have a stall at Deal Market on Saturdays from April to November. We make pint tubs all year round.

Do you deliver?

Yes - in Deal, Walmer and Kingsdown.

Are your products vegan?
